A quiet day at home filled with catch up chores, loads and loads of laundry following three weeks away….. and a little time spent culling through over 4000 images shot over the past few weeks. Lots of pix of castles and brickey edifices in the coffers but strangely enough its the local color and landscapes that I find most appealing.

More sunshine, less rain! >Back in Charlotte tonight … worn out with three weeks away from home and glad to be able to brush my teeth in my own basin! And a caveat …. in that we did find some stellar food in New Orleans, namely at Peche, and then later at Coquette off Magazine Street! Super super food!
love New Orleans, haven’t been back since Katrina. Your snippets remind me of the magic. Glad you got some sunshine. I particularly love the bar shot. I wish I could say that I was penning a note from a sunnier and warmer location than Ireland but I don’t think I have ever been more rain sodden in my whole life!!!! Tourist’ing with friends and camera amid rain storms that dumped over 5 inches over us in few short moments and continued ALL day have proven to be less than terrific from a picture taking standpoint – rain coats and umbrellas – totally useless. New Orleans has changed much in the years since I have been here (about 15 or so). Car parking costs a whopping $40 a night and hotel prices are about 2x that of New York City, which is mind boggling. I don’t think one comes here for the food, though Beignets and Cafe Au Lait at the Cafe Du Monde are definitely worth a taste! – copious quantities of liquor seem to be the focal point and as odd as it may seem, in trying to stay dry today, we actually had breakfast at an all day Daquiri parlor (sans the daquiris and pretty well sans the breakfast)! Anyway, a few more “dry” moments before I try and get to sleep again. Jet lag does not seem to get any easier regardless of the number of planes I fly on!! Love the picturesque house, but the tram brings back very fond memories of the rattling trams we used to ride as children in Liverpool UK.OXOX M I was in New Orleans about 4 years ago and ate very well – stayed at a bed and breakfast; so the rates weren’t horrible. Your beautiful photos bring back happy memories. Hope the weather improves.
So much to see and do in this wonderful city. The architecture, history, scenery, food and city life are second to none and Dublin will stand firmly amongst my favourite cities and a must do to visit again….
It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks. Super company with my various traveling companions including KB, Louis, Gail and a cheeky and fun room-mate Sam. I’ve about 6 hours of sleep before I get on another plane and head to New Orleans for a few days where I will be catching up with my “bestie” Carla N …. such a long time since I have seen her and I am hoping my camera will be able to cope with a whole new slew of images to shoot! zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…….
Great photos. The two days I spent in Dublin 5 years ago were storming and raining 98% of the time. I fell in love with Dublin last year! So I understand! We were lucky with no rain. Now…to take a camera to New Orleans? OMG…when I went 20 years ago I wasn’t into photography at all. I just remember taking eerie swamp tours and now thinking about that it would be incredible to photograph. Have fun!
Very dramatic photo. Love the twilight sky reflected in the river. OXOX M |
