Getting your “Cher” On….

blog_05_may_2014

Well I managed to snap a couple of pix at the Cher concert in Charlotte tonight before being hassled by the security people for having a “PRO” camera and lens.  To be honest I can’t see the difference between gazillions of people video’ing the whole concert with their darned iPhones and me snapping a few pix, long lens or not.

I have to say it was an awesome concert.  Cher clearly does not “gad” about as much as in bygone days but at a self proclaimed 67 years of age, who can blame her.   A few less songs, much less bump and grind and a lot more Vegas style entertainment with her supporting cast, but all in all a stellar event.

Tomorrow I am playing catch-up.  Four days in New York were blissful beyond belief.  It felt like going ‘home’!!!!  I met friends for dinner, did some one on one shooting with my favourite model Viktoria and then a two day workshop with Lindsay Adler which was superb!  Would that every teacher took a leaf from her book…… and into the bargain I made lots of new contacts and a few new friends.

If I have time tomorrow I will edit some of my super model pix….and hopefully share a few.

Joanne Thieme Huffman - Well, the photos you did get to take are great.

Bren - Great snaps! The fact Cher can handle wearing those heels still put me in awe 🙂
Love the nudes you’ve done as well, beautiful

You are one busy lady!

Chris - We loved Cher so much when we saw her at The Staples Center, we went again in Vegas! It was expensive, but amazing!

Love love love these shots. I’m going to share them with Cathie.

The arrogance of security rules always amazes me. Not only does this show that they are too dumb to realize what those little iphones can accomplish, they are also too dumb to know you are making it BETTER for them by capturing every line and every detail with your PRO camera!

Of course, I’d try selling a licensed experience, but that’s just me. They frisk me at every concert.

Of course, I like that.

Something Old, Something New

blog_01_may_2014I definitely have a penchant for ballerinas and all things dance, probably some thwarted childhood dream from aeons ago where ballet lessons came and went in a blink of an eye and piano came next….for one reason or another.

So a little vicarious living with a greatly worn pair of toe shoes courtesy of Ebay and some pretty Azalea blossoms out of the garden.

Shot, deliberately soft with my Lensbaby. Not a winner in any comp category that I know of, but sometimes you just have to make and take the pictures that speak to your heart and appeal to your inner voice……

And for me, nothing better than dancing and flowers…. whether it be in my head, or in reality.

Alison - This is lovely, comp piece or not.

Sorry the ballet teacher was killed in a bad car smash on North road. possibly you were too small to remember. OXOX M

joanne thieme huffman - This speaks to the ballerina within us all.

Chris - This is truly sweet. Love the fade in to flowers.

I was a Harriet the Spy kind of girl. I would probably have hidden a secret code in one of those toes.

Stitching Bits Together

blog_30_april_2014For whatever reason my creative Muse has been rather unavailable the last few days and I have been feeling mightily aggravated, but tonight we sat down and had a chat and “Window To The World” was the result.  A composite of shots taken in Brighton, UK, a little Aussie beach and a model that I photographed in Cheltenham about this time last year.  As always, once it’s done there are faults and bits to tweak but for now I’m finished…
The non PG version can be found on 500px.

I’m off to NYC on Friday and looking forward to some studio time with a favorite ballerina and then a workshop with Linsday Adler…. and hopefully some street shooting too as well as dinner with my BFF Aggie!  I reckon my Muse should be wide awake after all that going on!!

Alison - I Like her, oh to be that young again. OXOX M

Joanne Thieme Huffman - lovely composition!

Splish Splash at the Whitewater Center, NC

blog_28_april_2014The camera has been busy this weekend, shooting pix at the Olympic Whitewater Center, NC, followed by a model shoot and today a “paid” assignment for an Engagement shoot at Davidson College.  All fun and all diverse.

I think I’m more of a candid sport shot lady rather than the snuggly bunny Engagement person…

joanne thieme huffman - Great adventure photo. I would much rather look at photos of rafting than do it.

A Little Irish Painting

blog_25_april_2014Adare was one of my first stops on my recent trip to Ireland.  A quaint town where the main street boasted a number of the traditional thatched cottages.  Tonight I switched the Photoshop brushes to “Paint” and had a little bit of fun!

irene - today is hug an Australian Day, consider yourself hugged.

Joanne Thieme Huffman - You’ve made the cottage look perfectly idyllic.
