Snow Daze

blog_13_feb_2014An unusual sight for the Carolinas but oh so pretty!  ~ 7″ of snow!

Of course it’s wreaked havoc with the roads, and try as they might, the local authorities just don’t have the equipment to cope with this sort of thing.  In NYC I’d have had my street plowed a number of times already, here I’m wondering whether or not I’ll just have to wait for the snow to melt to get out.

Thankfully we did bring a snow shovel or two with us when we moved, but sadly, not the snow blower!

The upside is that the world seems like a quiet and tranquil place, the only sounds to be heard being the gleeful cries of the neighbourhood children as they slip and slide down any slope they can find.  The nearby golf course has morphed into a snow park.

They do say if life give you lemons, make lemonade, so I guess it follows if you get snow, you make snowballs, snowmen and snow pictures!!!!!!

Stay warm people!

joanne thieme huffman - It is a lovely photo; but we’ve had 88.9 inches of snow this season and I’m sick of it.

Bren - Just when you thought you were done with the white stuff :-). Beauty in all things, settled in with snow all around here too. Love the photo of the snow covered berries in your banner by the way

Creative Evolution

Shapes and lines, be they of the body or architecture, really float my boat in terms of picture taking.  And the conversion to mono is a whole ‘nother fun process….

So here’s the evolution of a bridge, shot at Salford Quays, UK and abstracted into something completely different, organic and well, I think, kind of fun…….

blog_12a_feb_2014

1. The SOOC shot.
2. Mono conversion and the nasty bits cloned out.
3. Flip, twirl, transform.
4. Mending and Pen Tool cut out.
5. Some Photoshop Magic to make it look like a cool complex 3D image.

A Few Fabulous Faces

blog_10b_feb_2013

The camera is much more than a recording apparatus.
It is a medium via which the images it creates reach our soul and touch it in a way that is not always quite expected
– but always AMAZING!

A Jersey Girl

blog_09_feb_2013I was off out and about shooting lovely ladies again tonight.  A themed shoot, supposedly “Cirque de Soleil” but more Burlesque than anything.  However it did not matter as the models were great as was the make up and costuming.

“Jersey” (featured here) has been a subject of previous shoots.  She is actually a Body Builder, Rollerderby Girl and if I heard correctly sings Opera too!  Uber talented and though not a professional model is one of the most photogenic people I have ever met!

Thanks Jersey for the great pix!!!!

I’ve a load more other images to process, so stay tuned for some of those …..

Meanwhile, Thank you to all the wonderful people who have signed up to take my new Online Black and White Class.  Registration opened today and I’m excited! The class is filling up quickly and there are limited spaces so don’t wait too long to register!!

It’s going to be a bit different from my other online classes in that there will be lots of camera play, prompts and shooting assignments.  Nothing too horrid, so don’t be scared!  It’s a class that’s meant to show you new stuff and push your boundaries a bit ….. all GOOD!

So check it out!

And if you are feeling frisky and feel like a bit of a Getaway, don’t forget that Karen Burns and I are hosting a Workshop in the South of France early in June which promises to be fun and exciting too!!!!!!  We will be closing registration in a couple of weeks time!

That’s all for now …. back to image tinkering!

Ciao

Marie

Joanne Thieme Huffman - I’m so envious of your model shoots. I happily registered for the online class 🙂
