Charlotte in Black and White – snippets from today’s workshop

blog_02_nov_2013

Day One of my Black and White Fine Art Creative Workshop in Charlotte has drawn to a close.  What a fun day!  We were spoiled with perfect weather, great light and I have a fabulous group to work with.

We have had some adventures along the way, including being threatened with Police intervention for snapping pics at the top of a high-rise car park  – which was open to the public, but only for parking cars apparently, NOT for taking pics of architecture – as that constitutes a threat to national security, apparently (ugh!).  Been yelled at for taking pictures on the train tracks – OK a tad risky, but we were watching out for trains!
Caught candid shots of the morning after the night before guy barfing out of his truck.  Been requisitioned as on the spot family photographers with the insistence that we EMAIL the pics, thank you very much! … OK no probs!
Encountered some reversely minded and very helpful people who gave us special access to some high rise spots – which proved to be better than the car park and they even allowed us to come back after dark (shhhhhh… don’t tell anyone) to take more shots of the buildings at night – see the stellar BOA building above!

Much photoshoppery and boggled minds at all the ways you can create a Black and White image ….. and a tasty dinner for the group to boot!

Small hiccup in that racing to catch a lift I have snapped a muscle in my right calf and walking is now a bit of a grimace faced chore – but other than that, I could not be happier with our day – and a big thanks to DH for being a great Marshall and shepherding us around in a timely fashion and curing the odd glitch, like leaving my laptop charger at home 🙂

Looking forward to seeing what Mono Magic we can cook up tomorrow.
