The Unwitting Power of Social Media

blog_4-Jan-2015DH has this weird and wonderful penchant for “Googling” my web presence…. not something that I do often, but tonight as we waited for Beers and Dinner to arrive, smart phone in hand, off he went…
Turns out that this photo painting of Venice, by hook or by crook, via Tumblr, Twitter, Instawhatevertheheckyoulike… has been reblogged over 4,200 times on the internet! 4,200! OMG!

There’s also another of my Iceland pix that has been reblogged over 2,000 times!

I’m not sure whether to be happy or sad?… I guess it’s good as people like the images, and I love that…. but honestly it appears that you have NO control over images once they are  posted on the internet…. they are OUT THERE….for better or for worse!

All I can say is thank goodness it’s a nice image and folk like it …..

Joanne Thieme Huffman - I wonder what people do with the images they “hit” on – do they just look at them? forward them? print them out?

Vicki in Michigan - Watermarking is clearly a really really good idea…………..

Vintage Glory

blog_3-Jan-2015When shooting a Wedding recently for some clients I had the chance to use this fabulous old General Store nearby as a location for some of the wedding shots.  It was a fun and intriguing backdrop.  So yesterday, on the way to the park DH and I stopped off so I could get some clean shots to PLAY with.  The charming old store rather begged for a little painterly treatment …  and so you have it!

Joanne Thieme Huffman - Delightfully retro.

Terry - great atmosphere!

A Walk In The Woods

Happy New Year to all my lovely Blog readers…. It was a super sun shinny Carolina day for the first of the year and the outdoors beckoned!

So off to Landsford Canal State Park for some fresh air and exercise.  No birdies or landscape of particular note but there was lots of very funky fungus!  A trip back in the near future is on the cards, and next time with a tripod!

blog_1-Jan-2015Wishing you all the best for 2015, may your wishes and dreams come true and hoping for health, prosperity and satisfaction for you all.

Joanne Thieme Huffman - Great photos. (no walks in beautiful Nature here on New Year’s Day, grey, bleak and freezing). Happy New Year.

Robin aka gotham girl - Always beautiful captures even without a tripod, but I know what you mean. Happy New Year and I’m looking forward to following your wonderful work! Here’s to more creativity in the new year! Perhaps this year will be our year to meet, ha ha!

Alison - Awesome. OXOX M

Deborah - Hello Old Friend!!! Apparently I have much to catch up with! I look foward to reading you again.

A Little More Iceland

blog_31-dec-2014In-between attending to end of year domestic tasks today I scraped by a few good hours of editing pix ……It’s hard to believe that 2014 is almost finished and I still have images to edit from my trip to Ireland in March!
I have to say though that the images shot I in Iceland continue to enthrall me and I have only scratched the surface of what lies in those folders!!

Hard to believe that 2015 is barely a few breaths away….and it’s going to be a doozy!…. with workshops planned for Pacific Grove, CA, the UK, Donner Lake, CA, back to the UK, Phoenix, AZ and France ….and I haven’t even penciled in the FUN stuff yet!

Thanks my good friends for being along for the ride 🙂

Joanne Thieme Huffman - These are filled with magic.

Seth - These shots are beyond magnificent Marie. Each is a work of art. The best to you in 2015!

A Little Painting in Photoshop

blog_29-dec-2014There hasn’t been much time of late for creative pursuits as when my sons are here for the Holidays,  the short and very sweet “family time” takes precedence ….

However a few quiet moments snuck here and there over the past few days have seen me tinkering with yet another of my lovely images of Viktoria…..

This time, a painterly rendering done entirely in Photoshop.

Joanne Thieme Huffman - Very painterly – elegant and charming.

Robin aka gotham girl - Beautiful! Enjoy your family and Happy New Year!
