Pretty Women

blog_31-Jan-2015Aside from “shooting” Fine Art Nudes and Landscapes, I think I am finally finding my “style” in the world of “model” photography – that sort of whimsical, slightly surreal, a tad painterly but also a bit flamboyant …..? Maybe, …. perhaps?

All I know is that it is fun to take the out of camera shot and turn it into something slightly less than expected and hopefully verging on the wonderful….

blog_31b-Jan-2015I am enjoying, as always, the creative compositing of images that I shoot, but I am also having lots of fun “making” my camera do the work as well….

What do you think?  Am I hitting the mark?

Model credits in order: Faith Obae, Caitlin Epstein, Emma Johnson, Faith Obae, Bunny Luna, Jess Wilcock, Portia Victoria.

Some Painting with Corel

blog_26-Jan-2015Digitally painting the lovely Mackenzie Madison Sanders with Corel Painter and a dash of Photoshop to finish.
The before – camera shot below!

I don’t care to abstract the image too far when painting portraits… but love the texture and looseness that the digital brushes, especially the impasto ones, bring to the party!

Joanne Thieme Huffman - Locwly!

Joanne Thieme Huffman - oops, make that “Lovely!”

Sharon Gamble - Marie, I think I have the dates correct, so Happy Birthday to you for 27/01. Hope it is a special day for you.

Seriously Busy!

blog_25aa-Jan-20152015 has started on a roller coaster and there doesn’t seem to be too many signs of the “roller” bit stopping….and not too much “coasting”…. which is fine by me!

This past week has seen me getting things ready to teach in Pacific Grove, CA with my Digital Painting “collaborator” – Karen Burns as well as taking time to do some preview model and costume shoots for the “Manor House Extravaganza” and Photoshop Workshops that I will be hosting with Joan Blease in the UK in March.

Featured above are the two lovely models, Portia and Jess, who will be donning some of the wonderful costumes that are planned to adorn the Manor House shoot.  Creative post processing will be discussed during the Photoshop Workshops … (as a separate event! – see links above!)

And as a final note for today, prior to hosting our workshop in Pacific Grove, Karen and I will be spending a “work week” together and will be putting the final touches on our new, dedicated website and finalizing details for some online offerings for those of you who cannot fly, fling or go too far from the computer, but still want to learn how to Digitally Paint in Corel and Photoshop.

All sounds exciting?  …. It does to me…..

joanne thieme huffman - Very excited to hear about online classes!

Tera - Beautiful eye candy as always – not much blogsurfin time for me lately but glad I stopped by 🙂 I love what you did with the cardinals in the previous post too!!!. Hope your Mum is doing ok!!!
Would love to try some stuff with photoshop and my camera more – its on my list – too bad I don’t have endless time to pursue endless hobbies 🙂 AH well – there is always something new to look forward to trying in a spare moment 🙂

Painterly Play – with Cardinals

blog_17-Jan-2015These days my garden is filled with these lovely Red Emissaries,  they grace the trees and feeders, six pairs by all accounts and of course, the boys are prettier than the girls….

The straight out of the camera shot is quite lovely…. but as one of the new tutorials for our Pacific Grove Workshop in February, I have rendered my pretty bird in Photoshop… using some of the textures from our store….and using a few other tips and tricks that will be revealed to our Students!

Alison - Your students have a fantastic workshop to look forward to.OXOX M

Joanne Thieme Huffman - Beautifully done. Lucky students.

A Weekend of Dance

blog_13-Jan-2015After quite a bit of time off from messing with my camera, this weekend delivered an abundance of catch-up …

Photographing the lovely Emma on Friday night with my Studio 51 peeps and then a jam packed day on Sunday working with Bunny Luna in the morning and then two delightful sisters, Heather and Amber, who are professional dancers, in the evening.

I’ve now got another slew of RAW files to process which will keep me pretty busy, in addition to getting ready to teach with Karen Burns in California in not too many weeks time!

Alison - Would be great to be so light on MY feet. OXOX M

joanne thieme huffman - Such graceful photos!
